The Darren Shan series are in my opinian the best searies ever.
It's about vampires and vampaneze the two worst enemies in the world.
Darren Shan a normal boy that changes his life at a freak show.
Darren was at school one day and his friend Steve brought a leaflet to school for a freak show. They really wanted to go but the leaflet is only for two people. the saga of darren shan
This book is about 4 boys that find a freak show leaflet and they buy tickets. But they are only allowed two, so they have to toss a coin to see who gets the tickets and they find out that the person who owned the Freak Show was a vampire. One of the friends went down and asked to be made into a vampire but his request was refused because he had bad blood. Following this rejection, the friend said that he would become a vampire slayer, so he ran off and I won't tell you any more, apart from that it is a really good book and I would rate it as 8/10.
Candleman
This is a book about a boy who is strange because if he touch someone else's bare skin, they turn in to wax. You might be wondering who that is in the tube. That is Theo the boy who I was talking about earlier. He is in a mucry tube.It makes him feel really unwell. The story starts the day before his birthday. When he comes out of the tube he goes to sleep. When he wakes up he goes on a walk because he is about to get his presents( ohh and this is his only walk per year.) He finds a snow globe in the cemetery and when he shakes it, black dust goes above London. There is a message... it is?????
read to find out I would give it a 8/10 bit strange in the first bit but it unravel and ends really well.

Mortal Engines
The Sixty Minute War ended western civilization leading to a new world order. The great cities do not reside in one place, but instead are mobile like Roman legions assaulting smaller locations. London has been reduced to one of these prowling giants, but recently concern has surfaced that with a lessening of prey among the midgets, other mega-metropolises will try to devour the big city.
As London chases after Salthook, fifteen years old apprentice historian Tom toils at what all rookies do. He cleans in his case the exhibits of the London Museum of Natural History. However, Tom's world changes when he rescues his hero, scavenger turned renowned archeologist Thaddeus Valentine from an assassination attempt. He and the avenging assassin Hester Shaw are tossed out of the city into the vast wilderness. He learns from her why as she explains her connection to Valentine and the mayor. They team up to survive as Hester and Tom begin a series of adventures to stay alive. good book rate it 6/10

Vampire Blood
Vampire Blood is a book including three saga's.
The first, " Cirque du Freak".
A boy named Darren Shan finds a flier about a freak show. The show consists of a wolf man, a snake boy, a performing tarantula etc. After the show, his mate goes to the tarantula's owner and finds out who or what he was.
The second, " the Vampires Assistant".
It turns out he was a vampire. Darren steals the tarantula and hopes for the best. On about the fifth night of having the spider, the owner ( Mr Crepsly) found him. He said that the only way to cure his mate who got bitten by the spider was to become his vampire assistant.
The final, " Tunnels of Blood"
Mr Crepsly and his new assistant then go away from the freak show and after a while come back and then away. Mr Crepsly had to go to the city and bring Darren with him who in the end brought Evra ( snake boy).
They get into a whole huge mess with a vampeneeze who is a vampire but kills the victim it takes blood from.
After a bit Evra and Darren get captured by the vampeneeze.
Will they ever escape?
Will they kill the vameneeze?
Will they get out alive???
10/10
Best book ever!

Tamar by Mal Peet
This is a story about jealousy, secrets, loves and lies.
It is a story about two spies who have been training for when they are sent into Holland in 1944 to help with the Dutch Resistance. When they get there though they both fall in love with the same girl which Tamar (one of the two spies) had fallen in love with before and they begin to not trust one another which is not very helpful when you are trying to stop a war together and instead starting your own against each other. It is quite complicated to understand at first because it keeps on switching every so often to a different year and a different country. Because at the beginning it starts in 1979 and then it goes to 1944 then to 1995 then to 1944 then to 1995 and so on.
This distrust between them leads to a complete disaster and mistakes in which the main blow of the story is made. Where one of them decides to trust not his fellow agent but one that was already there. In order to make the girl who both the agents fom England love come and escape to England with him and live with him for the rest of her life.
Excellent book. Gripping and exciting. I would rate it 10/10! FANTASTIC! :) :) :)

Henderson Boys
This is a good book that has a very good story line. I think that this book is the best book in the series and very action packed and has lots of gore. I think that this book has a slow start but, if you can get into it then it is a fantastic book. I think to really enjoy this book you have to have read the other books in the story so that you know each character's background.
I think this book is very well written and I would give it a 9/10 Great book! clarkers.

The Hunt for the Red October
At the height of the "cold war" Russia invents a ultra-stealthy missile submarine. But Ryan ( the main character) believes that the captain, Ramius, wants to defect (he wants to change where he lives and his allegiance) to the west, which means the Americans could get the submarine. This causes a lot of trouble. The Russians know what Ramius is doing, but they tell the Americans that the submarine is rogue, and could launch a nuclear strike. So who will the Americans believe? The Americans want her, and the Russians want to destroy her. In other words, its a race between Russia & America to get a very lethal & stealthy submarine which could start the next war. Who will win?
I thought this was an extraordinary book and I couldn't stop reading 10/10

Street Boys
By Lorenzo Carcaterra
When Corporal Steve Connors is separated from his battalion after his squad is murdered in a field near Naples, he meets a group of children, who are filled with hate at the men who destroyed their lives and killed their family. But when the Germans come back to tear Naples to the ground, they decide to fight back...It was definitely a great story, and had lots of action. But it did have a few gaps that could have been shortened between key moments...it's never good if you start falling asleep between pages...

Dragon Rider
Lets start on the title, a lot of people judge a book by its cover.Even though I love this book the title is vvveeeerrrrrrrryyyyyyy tacky, it sounds like someone's just picked a title out of a hat(a bit like z-rex a, book that I would never read unless I was 6-7 and thought it was cool.) Anyway, don't judge this book by its cover.
Also people think that the first bit is boring. I agree; it starts off as a dragon meeting-- boooooooooooooooooooooo. But keep on reading because it gets better. It's big a book but don't get put off. It's not very sophisticated in a good way.
I'm not going to tell you what the book's about, only that there is no ak-47 machine guns or fluffy ponies in it. Sorry Gareth and girls. Read it or die alone in a creepy old house.
Don't get scared. No sirah. I made the last bit up.

Micheal Mcintyre's Life and Laughing
Michael McIntrye's autobiography is a funny and upbeat book. It shows how he was brought up and what his social life was like. It's funny because he makes himself sound really wierd in it and tells how he came from being a moderatly poor (with lots of debt) to becoming, probably Britain's most funny and famous comedian.I would recommend it to people who don't like dark, boring, gruesome books (Skullduggery Pleasant, for example) but people who prefer upbeat books. I would give it an 8/10.
