This is a book written in the form of a letter, but more like a diary, of a girl called Gemma who lives a normal life in London as a teenager. The letter is to her kidnapper, called Ty.
Ty steals Gemma from an airport and takes her to sand and heat, dirt and danger; Australia, a place she is completely not used to. This totally changes Gemma's life, but not all in a bad way. The more she gets used to the desert and nothingness, the more she likes it. Ty doesn't treat Gemma like a kidnapper would. He treats her with care; but the longer they stay together, the stronger their relationship gets and they become good friends. Gemma learns so many new things she never would have learnt if she had been kept in London for all her young life. Gemma probably experienced the most amazing time of her life. But does she ever get back to her family or does she give them up for this new life?
I really liked this book, I thought it was very interesting. I also liked it because the story sounds quite bad and horrible but really it's a happy story.
I would give it a 8/10
