Rikki tikki tavi is a mongoose who has been washed out of his burrow. He was found by a boy, and adopted the family as his own.But he has to beware of the cobras Nag and Nagima, who are out to kill the family and rikki so that they will be masters of the garden, and so that their eggs may hatch.But rikki knows that mongooses were made to kill snakes, and a battle to save himself, and to rid the world of the cobras, leads him to a battle with nag in a sluice, a meal of the dust krate and the death of nagina and her babies in an underground den.
